Musk on a SpaceX-Tesla merger: “Do I think it would be a good idea? Yes”

A possible SpaceX-Tesla merger took center stage after earnings, CNBC reports. On SpaceX's third-quarter call Tuesday, Elon Musk said: “Do I think it would be a good idea? Yes,” revealing that both companies have formed special committees to explore a transaction. A day later on Tesla's call, he said he had “said everything that should be said,” and Tesla's head of investor relations told analysts executives “will not be addressing” the matter. Musk said he was “tap dancing through a minefield” by commenting publicly. Tesla's earnings showed declining auto revenue and an even steeper drop in its energy business.
