SpaceX Closes Ukraine Starlink 'Loophole,' Kyiv Denies Breach
NBC News reports SpaceX closed what it calls a Ukraine Starlink 'loophole,' while Kyiv denies breaching terms. SpaceX says it patched a workaround that allowed expanded military use beyond agreed parameters.
Ukraine insists its usage never violated the contract and characterizes the restriction as a unilateral service degradation during active combat. Both sides claim the legal high ground; neither has produced the receipts.
This is exactly why commercial satellite networks need published military-use frameworks, not secret 'loophole' patches. Warfighters can't plan around shifting interpretations. SpaceX should publish its acceptable-use policy for defense customers and stick to it — or let governments build their own constellations.
