Tesla expands Robotaxi geofence in Houston with an ode to SpaceX merger
According to Teslarati, Tesla expanded its Robotaxi geofence in Houston, enlarging the service area with a rocket-shaped boundary that stretches toward central Houston. The initial zone of about 25 square miles now sits inside a larger blue zone, and riders can request unsupervised Model Y trips via the Robotaxi app. The expansion follows Tesla's pattern of starting with controlled zones before widening coverage. Separately, Tesla's Cybercab production line in Texas is building vehicles faster than they can be deployed, with a target of one Cybercab every 10 seconds. The line uses a highly automated unboxed process, and more than 50 Cybercabs operated during the Formula 1 weekend in Austin. Tesla plans to launch Cybercab service in Dallas next month and aims to deliver Cybercabs to customers by year-end.
