Tesla has a Cybercab problem nobody saw coming
According to Teslarati, Tesla's Cybercab line in Texas builds robotaxis faster than they can be deployed, with manufacturing currently ahead of service rollout. The unboxed process uses independently built modules and a final line of 25 automated stations, targeting a 10-second cycle time with 100 percent automation and roughly half the floor space of a Model Y line. The vehicle omits a paint shop, uses an 88S6P 4680-cell pack with swappable modules, and an 11:1 gear ratio for lower top speeds.
Deployment is now the bottleneck. Over 50 Cybercabs ran during a Formula 1 weekend in Austin, with 463 registered in Texas. Tesla plans to launch service in Dallas next month and reach customers by end of 2026. All units built since volume production began in April have gone to Tesla's fleet, and no vehicle has been released for independent teardown.
