Tesla Full Self-Driving gets hit with some adjustments in Europe

The Netherlands vehicle authority RDW has approved changes to Tesla's Full Self-Driving system, now called Tesla Assisted Driving in Europe, for vehicles with hardware version 4.0 or later. The updates include a mandatory name change appearing on displays and manuals, while the system remains a supervised driver-assistance feature with the driver fully responsible.

The most significant functional change reduces the maximum allowable speed margin from +50% to +10% above the speed limit. Each vehicle start will default the speed-margin setting to 0% deviation with other speed-related functions disabled by default. These changes will be delivered via over-the-air software update.

The RDW found no adverse effects on system operation or driving behavior, so the existing type approval remains valid without amendment. The authority has informed nine EU member states that recognize its approval, while broader EU-wide approval discussions continue within the European Technical Committee on Motor Vehicles.
