Tesla cuts FSD’s speed margin from 50% to 10% over the limit in Europe

According to Electrek, Tesla's driver-assistance system in Europe has been updated to cap the speed margin at 10% over the detected limit, down from 50%, and has been renamed Tesla Assisted Driving. The Netherlands' RDW approved the changes, which include resetting the margin to 0% at each vehicle start and disabling other speed-related functions by default. The RDW confirmed the update matches conditions set by Germany and notified nine other member states that recognize its approval.

The EU-wide decision remains with the Technical Committee on Motor Vehicles, with a vote delayed until December at the earliest and requiring a qualified majority. Speed tolerance has been the primary obstacle: Sweden requested zero tolerance above posted limits, while France cited urban speeding as a reason for not recognizing the Dutch approval. Germany agreed to support EU approval after Tesla accepted the name change and 10% cap. The article notes that speed-limit detection remains a significant issue for the system in Europe.
