Texas Senate race: New Talarico ad rips Elon Musk 'dark money' push
James Talarico's campaign released a new advertisement accusing Elon Musk of using dark money to influence the Texas Senate race in favor of Republican nominee Ken Paxton. The ad claims Musk is nearly single-handedly bankrolling the effort to install Paxton and warns that Texas is not for sale.
The ad comes amid an escalating feud between Talarico and Musk, who posted on X that there is something deeply wrong with Talarico and that Talarico hates Texas and America. Talarico responded by criticizing a political system that allows one trillionaire to buy a personal U.S. senator.
According to CNBC calculations, Musk has spent around $366 million across 40 races this midterm cycle, making him the largest individual donor. At least $189.6 million of that spending has supported Paxton. Polling aggregated by FiftyPlusOne shows Talarico with a 3-percentage-point advantage as of October 23.
