SpaceX’s Starfall just went from secret to storefront
SpaceX has published a commercial page for its Starfall capsule, detailing specifications and target markets for the first time. The disk-shaped vehicle can carry up to 1,000 kilograms of payload, provides one kilowatt of power and an Ethernet interface, and keeps experiments connected via Starlink throughout the mission. The service is aimed at biomedical, pharmaceutical and materials science customers, promising weeks of continuous microgravity on Starship launches.
The capsule flew twice previously, once in June and again on a Bandwagon-5 rideshare in October, but details were scarce until now. SpaceX reported signing three commercial Starfall missions in the third quarter, with President Gwynne Shotwell stating they will fly on Starship. The company also added Starfall merchandise to its store. The program competes with Varda Space Industries, whose smaller capsule shared the October launch, while SpaceX provides the ride for both. Starfall's near-term schedule depends on Starship development, with Flight 15 targeted after recent static fire tests.
