SpaceX confirms Starship 15 launch window with massive ambitions
SpaceX confirmed during its October 20 earnings call that Starship's 15th test flight will launch in November and will attempt to catch both the Ship and Super Heavy Booster using the launch tower's chopsticks, a first for the program. Chief executive Elon Musk described the dual-catch as the first full recovery of an orbital launch vehicle and a profound technology milestone, with success odds more likely than not. The company plans a steady stream of flights next year, targeting weekly launches in the first half of 2027 and twice-weekly by year-end.
Flight 14 in late September was Starship's first orbital mission, deploying 26 Starlink V3 satellites and achieving controlled ocean splashdowns of both stages. Tesla reported third-quarter revenue of $28.046 billion and non-GAAP earnings per share of $0.48. The company aims to begin Cybercab deliveries to customers by the end of 2026, though most units will join Tesla's own robotaxi fleet. Unsupervised Full Self-Driving is expected in the second quarter of 2027, and Tesla Semi volume production has started with a 500-mile range at full gross weight.
