Report: Musk ordered Starlink slowdown in Ukraine, then blamed it on Trump

According to Ars Technica, a Wall Street Journal report says SpaceX chief Elon Musk personally ordered a slowdown of the military‑grade Starlink service used by Ukraine, contradicting his claim that only the U.S. military and the president control such limits.

The cap cut connectivity above 160 kilometres per hour, crippling offensive and interceptor drones, and Ukrainian officials say Starshield was affected. Journal sources say Musk consulted the president and senior aides before imposing the limit, though the White House later denied any prior knowledge.

Musk denied ordering the slowdown, saying Starshield is government‑controlled, while the president said he did not order it and wants to learn who did. Rubio stated the administration had no foreknowledge and cannot direct a private firm. The White House repeated that the service is now operational.
