Happy Halloween! SpaceX launches 27 Starlink satellites to orbit from California (video)

SpaceX launched 27 Starlink satellites into low Earth orbit from Vandenberg Space Force Base on Oct. 31 at 12:04 a.m. EDT, according to Space.com. The Falcon 9 first stage returned to the drone ship "Of Course I Still Love You" in the Pacific Ocean about 8.5 minutes after liftoff, marking the 18th flight for booster B1093. The upper stage deployed the satellites roughly 62 minutes after launch, adding to the more than 11,000 spacecraft already in the Starlink megaconstellation.

This mission was the 118th Falcon 9 flight of 2026, with over 70 percent of those launches dedicated to building the Starlink network. SpaceX has also flown Falcon Heavy and Starship three times each this year, though Starship remains in the test-flight phase. The company is preparing for another Starship launch expected in November.
