SpaceX President to gift Trump Accounts her SpaceX stock
SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell announced that more than 2 million SpaceX shares owned by her and her husband will be distributed to children's Trump Accounts starting in December. The first round targets children aged 11 to 17 in ZIP codes with median family income of $57,000 or less, plus areas with insufficient Census data, with notices expected by Monday. A second round will cover military families overseas, foster care children, and additional Texas counties near the Shotwells' home with income up to $90,000.
The transfer follows Shotwell's July pledge and required coordination among the Treasury, IRS, Dell Foundation, Greater Horizons, Invest America, and law firms Morgan Lewis and Gibson Dunn. At recent valuation, the shares are worth approximately $290 million, representing roughly one-sixth of Shotwell's stake. The donation also serves as a test for Elon Musk's larger pledge to give one SpaceX share to every child in America next year, valued at about $10.5 billion for roughly 72 million children.
