Possible Roberts Road Expansion as SpaceX pushes for Flight 16
According to NASASpaceflight, SpaceX is preparing for Flight 15 in November and pushing to launch Flight 16 from LC-39A while expanding operations at Kennedy Space Center. The company has applied with NASA to expand its Roberts Road campus from 167 acres to nearly 400 acres for additional Gigabays, a ship static-fire stand, a Payload Processing Facility, and other Starship infrastructure. The expansion is in a draft environmental assessment awaiting public comment and final approvals.
At LC-39A, SpaceX has completed the methane tank farm with nearly 5,000 metric tons capacity, installed a reinforced tower roof, and begun activation testing of vent and deluge systems. Booster 23 and Ship 43 have completed cryo-proof testing; Booster 23 could static fire in late November while Ship 43 targets mid-December static fire before potential transport to Florida in early to mid-January. The first Starship flight from LC-39A could occur in late January pending successful testing.
Construction continues at SLC-37A with propellant tanks installed, though the launch mount remains obscured by tents and operational readiness is likely a year away. SLC-37B has only foundations completed with no tower work started.
