Grok releases the first seven minutes of its AI-generated ‘Odyssey’

Three months after Elon Musk said Grok would release a full-length, historically accurate movie version of "The Odyssey," the company published seven minutes labeled as the first episode of a series. The footage was created with Wonder Studios and director Dev Walker.

Musk had previously criticized Christopher Nolan's film adaptation for casting nonwhite and transgender actors. Nolan's version relied on practical filmmaking across six countries with thousands of cast and crew, becoming a major box office success and a likely Academy Awards contender.

According to TechCrunch, the Grok clip is not as poor as expected and some shots resemble real actors, but it lacks artistry, momentum, and human interest. The narration is lengthy, the dialogue stilted, and the overall experience feels airless, making it difficult to imagine sitting through a full-length version.
